Dr.Phil Special
Anyone check this out last night? It was pretty interesting. It seemed to me that the doc was less then gentle. But I know that sometimes that works. Shame based behavior seems better dealt with through killing with kindness. Shellye's confrontation made me think about my own tendancies to wittle down and rationalize when confronted. Good stuff.

more lyrics : step 9
I liked the making amends message of this song from Hoobistank "The Reason"
"i'm not a perfect person. there are many things i wish i didnt do
but i continue learning. i never meant to do those things to you.
and so i have to say before i go, that i just want you to know
i've found a reason for me, to change who i used to be
a reason to start over new...i'm sorry that i hurt you, its something i must live with everyday
and all the pain i put you through, i wish that i could take it all away "
I also love the "karma" coming from the only sitcom about real people "My Name is Earl" and his quest for completing his 9th step.

Peek-a-Boo U2
Praise Yahweh for U2, not so political they obscure the music and make it a bully pulpit, not such rockstars they have no soul or message. They do what God made them to. Perfectly. Their beauty is hidden behind their fame but I see it.
"Take these shoes
click clacking down some dead end street
Take these shoes and make them fit
Take this shirt
Polyester white trash made in nowhere
Take this shirt
and make it clean,clean
Take this soul
and make it sing
Yahweh, Yahweh
Always pain before a child is born
Still I'm waiting for the dawn"
from 'Yahweh' Performed by U2
written by Bono/The Edge from the album 'How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'

my way back to sanity
I love the spiritual, gentle, transparent, and humble lyrics in this song by Lifehouse:
Breathing
I’m finding my way back to sanity again
Though I don’t really know what I’m gonna do
When I get there...
Take a breath and hold on tight
And spin around one more time
And gracefully fall back to the arms of grace
’cause I’m hanging on every word you say
And even if you don’t wanna speak tonight
That’s alright, alright with me
’cause I want nothing more
Than to sit outside heaven’s door
And listen to you breathing
It’s where I wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be...
Breathing
I’m finding my way back to sanity again
Though I don’t really know what I’m gonna do
When I get there...
Take a breath and hold on tight
And spin around one more time
And gracefully fall back to the arms of grace
’cause I’m hanging on every word you say
And even if you don’t wanna speak tonight
That’s alright, alright with me
’cause I want nothing more
Than to sit outside heaven’s door
And listen to you breathing
It’s where I wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be...

God's Timing?
I saw a friend the other day in a bar, he appeared to be drinking, maybe not, knowing he is struggling with alcoholism, I just loved him, knowing that freedom is a process. But I wonder if there is the appropriate thing to do or say. I made a point to include him in my prayers.

ID vs. Science? Try 'Did Jesus exist?'
An Italian court is going to hear arguments about the rights of the church to teach that Christ existed. A case of course brought about by an avid anti-catholic. Best line is from the plaintiff "It would take a miracle to win."

Good Book
I am currently reading Nonviolent Communication: A Language Of Life By Marshall Rosenburg Ph.D. it is an excellent resource in learning to listen, to communicate and in aiding those of us who have learned to numb out our feelings, to feel again...and then there is this fantasy football league I belong to...joking.
Outlined is a three stage process of escape from emotional slavery to to liberation ;
Stage 1-Emotional Slavery: We see ouselves responsible for other's feelings.
Stage 2-"Obnoxious": We feel angry we no longer want to be responsible for others feelings.
Stage 3- Emotional Liberation: We take responsiblity for our intentions and actions.
I would consider myself to be at at stage 2.
The forward by Arun Gandi, the flower and earth motif, all said 'new age li li contiousness', at first, but then I saw it was endorsed by John Gray (Men are from Mars women are from Venus). This very large lettered, well captioned book has great excersises for learning to have compassion and bring it out in others. A must have. I may need to get the companion workbook.
